Look back with 60 Second Histories to discover the similarities between the current COVID-19 crisis and the Spanish Flu Pandemic

Today, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we find ourselves in unprecedented times, with many countries in lockdown, and with public buildings, restaurants, bars, non-essential stores and many other businesses being closed, life for the vast majority of people, has changed.

Just over 100 years ago, in the spring of 1918, the world was gripped by another unusually deadly strain of influenza, nicknamed Spanish Flu.  Check out this quick student’s guide, it's a great way to inform youngsters, as we compare the two catastrophic events.

The guide is perfect for school and homeschool as students can explore and compare the current COVID-19 pandemic to the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918.  There are a lot of similarities, though hopefully, as time goes by, with better awareness, communication and the control measures taken by governments worldwide, there will be far fewer deaths this time around.
