A description of a lightweight crossbow, an accurate weapon that could shoot over three hundred metres and be carried into battle, and even used from the back of a horse.
This is a lightweight crossbow, which can easily be carried into battle and even used from the back of a horse. To operate the bow you need one of these, a goat’s foot lever, it’s called that because if you look at it from the side it looks like the leg and foot of a goat. To draw the cord back you place it on the bow like so, but before you pull it back you have to check that the nut or trigger is pushed forward to receive the cord. Then you pull the lever back like so pulling the cord onto the nut which rotates and locks everything into place, you then select a bolt and place it onto the body of the bow take aim and shoot. This a very accurate weapon especially at close range but it can go as far as three hundred meters if the wind is behind you. My job as a crossbowman in battle is to roam around the edge of the fight to see if I can pick off anyone important. Did you know that King Richard I, the Lionheart, was killed by a crossbow bolt whilst attacking a castle in France.
