Have you ever heard of the Olympians? They are the twelve most important gods. Zeus is the leader because he is king of the gods, he can control the weather you know and if you do anything to displease him, he will rain thunderbolts down on you. Zeus has many children, in addition to Athena there are the twins Apollo and Artemis. Apollo is the sun god and as each new day arrives, he drives his chariot across the sky dragging the sun after him; he is also the god of music and poetry. Apollo’s twin sister Artemis is the moon goddess; she’s also goddess of hunting and is often shown with her bow and arrow. But there are so many gods that you have to make sure that you worship the right one at the right time. If you’re a sailor for example, before you make a voyage you should make an offering to Poseidon, god of the sea. Upset him and he will send a storm or one of his sea monsters to sink your ship and eat you up.
