The Winners

We’re delighted to announce the winners of My EPIC Era 2017.  Our judges have had great fun pouring through all the drawings, models, writings, videos and songs etc. from schools across the country.  The standard once again has been pretty EPIC and it has been fantastic to see the creativity and enthusiasm of pupils demonstrating their fascination for history.

The winner of the 1st prize is:
Abeera Abbas of Marsden Heights Community College with an entry called The Golden Age – 1001 New Inventions.  This entry was a clear favourite amongst all our judges; one commented “A great selection of information, cracking music and a well-designed PowerPoint presentation resulting in an Epic entry!.”  Abeera and her classmates will now have the chance to work with our professional team to write, direct and star in their very own 60 second history film which will be published on our website for everyone to enjoy.

The winner of the 2nd prize is:
Class 5 from Berkeley Campus in Gloucestershire.  “A great idea and costumes. A catchy song performed with enthusiasm, resulting in me smiling (and tapping my foot) as I watched it throughout.” commented our judge, Matthew Howorth.  Class 5 have won themselves a brilliant half-day history workshop from our very own Kevin Hicks and the History Squad.

Our three runners up are:
George Stephenson ‘Father of the Railways’ – Barnard Castle Prep School, Co. Durham

One Brave Jump for Equality – King Edward VI High School for Girls, Edgebaston

The Battle of Waterloo (Station?) – Hurlingham School, London

Congratulations to all our winners.
